Casino operator Partouche announced on Tuesday, April 12, the creation of Partouche Multiverse, a subsidiary dedicated to projects in the rapidly evolving virtual universe, with the ambition of becoming a "leading player" in "entertainment 3.0".
Managing 40 establishments and approaching its 50th anniversary next year, the casino operator is "convinced that the metaverse represents a major revolution."
On this Tuesday, they launched an initial project, "Joker Club," a collection of NFTs – digital ownership certificates – comprising "8,888 images, each representing a unique joker with different attributes," as stated by Maurice Schulmann, General Delegate of the group and President of Partouche Multiverse, to AFP.
Buyers, becoming exclusive owners of these joker images, can also resell them. This NFT serves as "a pass, an entryway to belong to a community of individuals" and will offer benefits within the Partouche casinos and hotels network, he continued, such as "access to events reserved for NFT owners, participation in lotteries to win concert tickets, or a stay."
"This project is the first of many to come," with "unprecedented initiatives (that) will follow to firmly embed the subsidiary in the ecosystem and create the entertainment of the future," assures the group. The casino operator, hoping to "reach a younger audience, aged 18-35," does not rule out, for example, "creating its own cryptocurrency," according to Mr. Schulmann.
The Partouche group will participate in the Paris NFT Day on Tuesday, April 19, which kicks off the 2022 edition of the Paris Blockchain Week Summit, an event bringing together players in the digital asset industry from April 12 to 14.
